Information for Authors

Proceedings
The proceedings will consist of extended abstracts (not full papers!) of two to four pages long.  These extended abstracts should give the general idea of the work to be presented with an appropriate amount of detail.  Authors are encouraged to include a pointer to a web or ftp site where readers can view more details or download a more complete version.

Authors whose submissions have been accepted for oral or poster presentation must submit their final version by September 19th, 1997.  While preparing the final submission, please take into account comments from your reviews.  Submission can be hardcopy (send to Matthew Turk, Microsoft Research, One Microsoft Way, Redmond, WA 98052-6399) or Postscript, Adobe Acrobat, or MS Word format (email to pui97@microsoft.com).

All submissions must be formatted for 8.5"x11" paper, with 1" margins on the top and bottom, and 0.75" margins on the left and right sides.  The title should be centered in bold face (14-pt Times Roman font preferred), and the body should be in two columns (10-pt Times Roman font preferred).  Get examples in:

Presentations
Oral presentations will be 25 minutes long (20 minutes talk and 5 minutes Q&A).  The following A/V equipment will be provided for oral presentations: overhead projector, slide projector, VHS video deck and monitor, microphone, pointer.

There will be two sessions set aside for poster presentations.  At each session, there will be two adjacent rooms with 5-6 posters per room. The poster presentations are important, so please make sure the poster is comprehensible from a distance (large title and main points) as well as close up.  Poster dimensions should be approximately 4 feet wide by 3 feet high. Posters may be tacked to the wall (tacks will be provided).

If you need special arrangements or additional equipment, please email pui97@microsoft.com.
